office of Student Mental Health, a division of the Office of Medical
Education, seeks to enrich the quality of life for students attending
Drexel
University
. The office provides specially tailored psychiatric services
designed to enhance personal, interpersonal, academic and professional
development of the members of the University Community. The services
provided are free and confidential with respect for diversity and a
commitment of student's professional and personal growth.
The
pursuit of an academic or medical career exacts a heavy toll on a
student's health and well-being. There has been increasing attention
paid to the problems affecting students with startling statistics that
describe significant amounts of severe depression, overwhelming anxiety,
drug and alcohol abuse, interpersonal problems and suicide. It is
therefore imperative that medical and graduate students have an
opportunity to attend their emotional needs.
