Career Exploration for Medical Students

The Office of Student Affairs is pleased to announce "Career Exploration for Medical Students (CE4MS). This program is intended to provide medical students with general career guidance on a wide range of topics including: research, specialty sessions by faculty, CiM workshops and 3rd and 4th year medical student experiences.

This program is intended to supplement the Careers in Medicine (CiM) program. Careers in Medicine (CiM), a program sponsored by the AAMC, is a four-phase program which will guide you through the elements of career planning, including self-understanding, exploring a variety of medical careers and, finally, choosing a specialty to meet your career objectives. Programs are open to all students and are informal.

 

Listed below are the dates, times and locations of upcoming programs being planned and sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs.  These sessions are open to all students and are informal.

 

q Tuesday, November 30, 2004, 12:15, Aud A. – Medical Students and Research - General advice, resources and information on planning your summer. “Should I do research?”  Bring your lunch.

q Thursday, January 6, 2005, 5:00 p.m., C-9 – Looking Ahead to 3rd & 4th Year.

q Tuesday, January 18, 2005 – 6:00 p.m., C-9 - CiM Workshop - It is recommended that you complete your Personal Profile and Self-Assessment prior to attending.

q Tuesday, February 15, 2005, 6:00 p.m., C-9   - Career Exploration – Featuring faculty from the following specialties: Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine and Anesthesiology.

q         Friday, March 18, 2005, 12:00 p.m., Aud. A. – Looking Ahead to 3rd & 4th Year and Beyond.

q Tuesday, March 22, 2005, 6:00 p.m., C-9   Career Exploration – Featuring faculty from the following specialties: Orthopedic Surgery, Dermatology and Surgery.

q Tuesday, April 5, 2005, 6:00 p.m., C-9 - The 2005 Match Results

 

 

As we continue to develop this program to meet your needs, we are very interested in receiving suggestions on topics, activities and speakers.
