2007 - ongoing WebOSCE
WebOSCE is a novel
system that allows the practice and assessment of communication skills,
using on-line video chate technology. In 2007 we did a research project
with 80 residents. Preliminary results show that they were able to
use almost 50% more essential communications skills when giving bad
news than a control group that did not practice with WebOSCE.

HHC (New York Health and Hospitals Corp) Depression Score Project
PHQ9
Depression is common, presents with or worsens somatic symptoms,
and is often overlooked by physicians. This project teaches how
to do the computer assisted screening and tells about depression diagnosis
and treatment.

Robert Pfund and Fritz Zahnd, two very ambitious physical therapists,
took the decision that a mere book can't serve their need to instruct
complex treatement techniques.We produced together two CD ROMs with
more than 200 short videoclips each, made easy accessible by a one screen
multimedia interface. Lollo Ernst did a great job in acting as the model
on whom the technique is demonstrated.

Interaktiv (German 1999)

the Dept. of Surgery at the University of Goettingen with a grant from
the Ministry for Education and Research of Lower Saxony.
Surgery interacitve was made together with the surgeons of the University
of Göttingen in Germany. I gave workshops in Göttingen to
enable the people there to produce the materials in a way that everything
fits together. For this aim, a editable Internet-Database has been developed
and used to allow a "decentral authorship".

One of the most ambitioned project I have worked on is 'Neurology
Interactive, in which 10 so-called virtual patients can be examined
with the common neurological examination tools - and react to these
interactions in an appropriate way.The program won the EASA98
(European Academic Software Award) out of 250 ompetitors. It was also
awarded as "Best Education CD-ROM of Switzerland" 1999 at the Orbit
in Basel. The German version is available at the Georg-Thieme

other materials where the understanding is made up by pattern-recognition.

Magalene and I share a great interest in medical herbs - and in education
in general. We created this CD in collaboration with Switzerland's most
experienced medical herbs folks: Dr Reinhard Saller (Director of "Natural
medicine" section of the department for internal medicine at the
Zurich University Hospital), Dr Klemens Bruehwiler (First President
of the SMGP Swiss Medical Society for Herbal Medicine) and the Botanist
Dr Richard Bolli. The CD connects 17 herbs with the portraits of 8 patients
using them.
