  to view the HIPAA Presentation

 


MULTIMEDIA REQUIREMENTS:
The on-line Powerpoint presentation consists of a series of slides and an accompanying audio dialogue.
In order to view this you must:

  • Have speakers or headphones connected to your computer
  • Be using Internet Explorer as the web browser
  • Have Microsoft Windows Media Player version 9.0 or higher installed on your computer.
    NOTE: Most PCs will already have Windows Media Player. If you need to install Windows Media Player or upgrade
    to a newer version, see the section below called "Downloading Windows Media Player"

TO VIEW A PRESENTATION:

  • After clicking on the title of the presentation a Username/Password box will appear. For help with this, view the
    "About Username and Passwords" section
  • Next a new window will open and the presentation will start loading.  If it's the first time you are trying to view a lecture
    you will be asked if you will allow "MS Office Animation Runtime" to be loaded on the computer you are using.  Please
    accept this request.
  • Next you will see the words, "Loading, please wait..." in the upper left corner. When you see the word "PLAY " in the
    upper left corner, it is ready and you can click on the word PLAYto begin the presentation. If you want to begin viewing the program before it is fully loaded, you can click on the words "Loading, please wait...".  
  • Make sure you have your speakers turned up or headphones plugged in.
  • Make sure you maximize the window (to do this, click the button which appears in the upper right corner of the window)
  • The audio will start playing automatically after a few seconds of buffering.  Please be patient as this can take up to a
    minute depending on your computer's speed. You can let the presentation play through from 1 slide to the next, or you
    an use the Table of Contents to navigate back to a section you would like to see and hear again.

 

DOWNLOADING WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER

  • If you do not have "Administrator" privlidges on your PC, you will not be allowed to install new software and you
    should contact your supervisor.
  • To get the latest version, go to www.microsoft.com/mediaplayer and choose the version appropriate for your operating system.
  • After clicking on the "Download" button you will be asked to 'Open' or 'Save' the file...click 'Save' and then save the file to your desktop.
    Remember the filename that is being saved.
  • After the download is complete, quit all programs running on your PC. To start the installation process, go to your desktop and double-click the file that you just saved. Read through the installation steps and typically just choose the default options presented.
  • When the installation is finished, you will be told it was installed succesfully.

 

ABOUT USERNAME AND PASSWORDS
       
       When you click the link to begin the program, you will be prompted to enter your Drexel University User ID and your Drexel Domain password.

        (Please note, this is NOT your new DrexelMed username and password)

  • Your Drexel University User ID will be in the form of 2 or 3 letters (your initials) and several numbers. For example:  xyz12
  • Your Drexel Domain password is a Drexel IRT password.
  • You can access and manage your various passwords at www.drexel.edu/accounts
  • You can also contact the Drexel HELP desk for assistance in resetting your Domain password

FAQs - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Q: Do I have to allow pop-ups from this site?
    A: Yes, you should allow pop-ups from http://webcampus.med.drexel.edu


  • Q: Do I need to have Powerpoint on my computer to view these presentations?
    A: No, but you will need to allow the
    "MS Office Animation Runtime" to be loaded when the program asks you to allow it.

  • Q: Can I use Netscape?
    A: No, you must use Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher to view the on-line Powerpoint presentations.

  • Q. Can I use a Mac computer?
    A: Yes, however for a better experience we recommend using a PC. The program does function under OS10 as long as you
         are using the most recent version of Internet Explorer.
     You also will not be able to interactively navigate through the table of contents.
         You must watch the entire program from start to finish.

  • Q: Where can I download Windows Media Player?
    A: Please see the section on Downloading Windows Media Player

  • Q: Why are the slides small and I cannot read them?
    A: You must maximize the window that the presentation is in. Click here to learn more.

  • Q: I don't know my Domain password, what shoud l i do?
    A: See the section on "Username and Passwords"

  • Q: Why don't I hear any audio?
    A: Make sure you have Windows Media Player installed.
    A: Make sure your speakers are turned on and the volume is turned up. On the right-hand portion of the taskbar you will see an audio volume icon. Click on this and adjust the level. If you hear a sound when you adjust the volume then your speakers are working. If you don't then your speakers are possibly not connected OR your Wave Audio is turned down on your "Master Volume" control. To adjjust the "Master Volume" control, double-click the Volume icon on the taskbar. When the "Master Volume" control panel opens, look at the slide under 'Wave' and also note if the checkbox labeled 'Mute' is checked.
    A: Make sure you wait long enough for the audio to begin. You should see the word "buffering" in the lower left corner of the Internet Explorer window before the audio begins.
