Health Education and Wellness at the

SSJ Welcome Center

 

DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM:

The SSJ Welcome Center, located in the Kensington area of North Philadelphia, is dedicated to helping immigrants gain self-sufficiency.  Medical students will provide a series of health education sessions for small groups of newcomers who have limited English proficiency.  The ability to speak Spanish is helpful, but not necessary.

TIME COMMITMENT:

Classes are held in the evenings.  Students must commit to teaching two to three times per month (not during exam or holiday weeks) for a minimum of one semester.
