DIGNITY HOUSING AFTER-SCHOOL TUTORING

DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM:

Dignity Housing coordinates a transitional housing program, in which formerly homeless women and their children live in subsidized apartments for two years.  Medical students tutor school-age children who are living in these apartments and attending the after-school program.

Four Wednesday afternoon sessions, as consecutive as possible.

To break the cycle of homelessness and poverty that confronts low income families and individuals in Philadelphia.  Dignity promotes their eventual self-sufficiency by providing affordable rental housing with individualized social services; home ownership opportunities; assistance in pursuit of educational objectives; job readiness training and career development.
