About the
Institution
PinnacleHealth Hospitals together have 632 inpatient beds, over 35,000 inpatient admissions, 496,000 outpatient visits, 4,400 deliveries, and 79,800 emergency room visits each year (statistics based on fiscal year 2005 data).
PinnacleHealth Hospitals have residency training programs in internal medicine and general surgery. The third- and fourth-year students have available required clerkships and electives in internal medicine, surgery, and neurology.

Parking
Parking is available at the Southgate Parking lot. Security will provide specific directions upon your arrival on site.
Housing is available at 310 S. 2nd Street. Contact GME Office at (717) 231-8633 for more information. A $250 security deposit is required. All students will also be required to sign our Housing Agreement. Student Housing will be available for use the Sunday before your roration begins.
Linens
Each student is expected to provide linens, towels and personal items. Twin sheets will fit the beds. Washers and dryers are located in the house for use by the students at no charge.
Housekeeping
Students are
responsible for cleaning their own rooms and for the overall cleanliness of
the Housing. Please refer to the Housing Agreement
.
Telephones
There are two telephone lines in the student house. These lines are for local service. Long distance cannot be accessed.

Students should report to the GME Office (Brady 914) at 8:00 a.m. the first day of their rotation for housing orientation and to sign their housing agreement. Clincial deparment orientation will be scheduled through each department.
An ID badge will be issued and must be displayed at all times. Questions regarding the ID badge are to be directed to GME at (717) 231-8633 .
Security Escort Services Lost and Found Beepers/Pagers Pagers will be issued
the first day of rotation by your specific Department assignment. Students will be asked to provide insurance
information for all medical services rendered at both hospitals.
Remember that some HMOs and other managed care providers have limited
care payment outside their service area. You will be responsible for
your medical bills should your carrier be unwilling to
pay. For needlesticks or similar accidents, students
will be seen in Employee Health for immediate care. Dining Facilities Medical Library Computer

responsibility to file
a change of address card with the post office for
delivery of mail after student rotation has been completed.
Security Services
operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The offices are located

Security Services is a clearing center for all lost or found
items. Please turn in anything found to that office. Feel free to

Facilities
Both hospitals have dining facilities.
Library/Media Services are available on the second floor of the Main Building.
Library hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. After hours
access to the libraries is also available.
Most departments have computers which are dedicated for
residents/students. CD-ROM is available in the Library/Media Services
Departments.
E-mail Access
Access to the Internet is available in the libraries and in the student housing.
The hospital resident/student lounge area is located on the 2nd floor of the Main Building at Harrisburg Hospital.
Lockers are
available in the student housing. Check with clinical department regarding
lockers in Harrisburg Hospital. Combination locks are provided by the GME office and are must be returned at the end of the rotation.

Travel/Transportation
Local transportation is readily available in the Harrisburg metropolitan area. For information regarding bus schedules, call Capitol Area Transit at (717) 238-8304.
The Capitol Trailways Bus Company provides intercity and interstate bus travel. Call (800) 444-2877 for information regarding schedules.
Amtrak operates regular daily service to Harrisburg from Philadelphia and the Northeast Corridor and via the New York-Chicago route. All trains arrive at Pennsylvania Railroad Station, Harrisburg. Call (800) 872-7245 for information regarding schedules.
The Harrisburg International Airport is located
minutes from Harrisburg Hospital. Information regarding flight

Recreation/Health
Club/Exercise Facilities
The Brady Body Shop
Students are permitted to use the Brady Body Shop
which is located in the basement of the Brady Medical Arts Building adjacent to
Harrisburg Hospital. The exercise facility is free of charge and hours of
operation are 7 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. Facilities include the gymnasium as well as
men's and women's showers and locker rooms. Exercise equipment includes
motorized treadmills, stationary bikes, Nordic Tracks, universal weight
machines, rowing machine, stair climber, and basketball court.
