Housing

There is no on-campus or institutional temporary housing provided by HUH. Some students may already be living in units rented at Stiles Hall. No temporary units will be provided there.

Identification Badge

Your DUCOM-issued ID badge should be displayed at all times.
Entering students receive an ID badge from the Security Office, which must be carried at all times. ID badges are required of actively enrolled students for access to all facilities of the University and to all of its educational resources.

Security

Several doors at Center City sites are card keyed for entry with active, valid student identification cards.

Escort Services
Security staff will accompany students, staff or faculty anywhere within a three-block radius of the Center City Campus. Escort service is available from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m., seven days a week. Contact Security at (215) 762-7110 at least 15 minutes before escort is required. Determine with Security where to meet the officer.

Lost and Found
The Security Office acts as a clearing center for all items lost or found. Please turn in anything found to the nearest security station and inquire there when something has been lost.

Fire
Students on clinical rotations in the various hospitals are responsible to become acquainted with the fire response policies of those individual institutions. Students should inquire about the fire safety policies at each hospital in which they rotate.

Beepers/Pagers

It is a student's responsibility to learn and to follow the Pager Policy and Procedures at the various clinical training sites. Beepers are provided by individual departments, based on their determination of need during the rotations.

Emergency and Non-Emergency Health Care and Insurance

Students should use the University Student Health services while in Philadelphia. (See the student health policy.)

Any emergency should be directed to an Emergency Room.

Buildings

North Tower/South Tower
The Hospital Towers are located at the southwest corner of Broad & Vine. The Hospital includes both the North and South Towers.

Bellet Building
The Bellet Building is located at the northwest corner of 15th and Race Streets in Center City Philadelphia. It houses some of the University administrative and support offices. Additionally, the University Store and administrative offices of some academic departments are located in this facility.

Bobst Building
The Bobst Building, located in Center City between the New College Building and the hospital South Tower, is a clinical and research building.

Franklin Office Center
The Franklin Office Center, located at 1427 Vine Street in Center City, houses the Student Counseling Center and several departmental offices and clinical practices.

New College Building (NCB)
The New College Building is located at the southeast corner of 15th and Vine Streets in Center City. It contains many of the executive offices of the University, the Office of the President, the Office of the Provost and the Office of University Student Life. It houses lecture halls, classrooms, teaching laboratories, a branch of the University Library and the administrative offices of many academic departments.

Myer Feinstein Polyclinic
The Feinstein Clinic is located at 216 N. Broad Street in Center City and houses ambulatory patient care facilities.

School of Health Professions Building
The School of Health Professions Building is located at the northeast corner of 15th and Race Streets. The building contains departmental offices, classrooms and student activity areas, including the Student Life Center and the Student Resource Center.

The Center City University Library is located on the first and second floors of the New College Building with entrances on both levels.

The Queen Lane Campus and Center City libraries contain slide, videotape and interactive videodisc equipment.

Microcomputer Centers
The Queen Lane, Center City-Hahnemann and University Libraries house Microcomputer Centers for student use.

Student Lounges
There are several student lounges in the New College Building. The first floor is home to a student activities area adjacent to Geary Auditorium complete with a video game room, vendeteria/eating area and student television lounge. Comfortable conversation areas are located in the lobby. A 24-hour student study area is located on the second floor of the library.

The University Student Life Center is located on the first floor of the School of Health Professions Building. In addition to the lounge areas available in the center, two student lounges are available on the third floor at either end of the corridor. The Student Life Center contains a student fitness center with a variety of exercise equipment, including Nautilus, showers and lockers, and eating area and vendeteria with adjacent outdoor deck, pool table and video games, student lounge with large-screen television, student government offices and yearbook offices.

The Student Life Center is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m.-11:30 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Sunday noon-6 p.m. Students have ID card access to the center from the Bobst parking lot entrance and the School of Health Professions Building's main and security entrances on 15th Street from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The 15th Street entrance leading to the Security Office must be used.

Emily Rommel Hall, located next to the Student Life Center, is available for parties and activities for all three schools. The hall contains a piano and small stage. This room may be reserved by contacting the Registrar's Office at (215) 762-8593.

On-Call Rooms
On-call rooms are provided for students at the hospitals where they are engaged in clinical rotations with overnight call as a requirement. Procedures for accessing the rooms vary with the site, and the student is responsible to learn the policies regarding on-call facilities at each clinical training site.

Lockers
A locker can be rented for a nominal fee while at HUH. Requests should be directed to the Registrar's Office, located on the first floor of the New College Building.

Mailboxes
Medical students will be assigned mailboxes in East Falls on the ground floor level of Ann Preston Hall, around the corner from Moore Library, for the duration of the third and fourth years.
