Financial Assistance and Planning
The
Drexel University College of Medicine financial planning program is designed to
assist students whose resources are insufficient to meet their educational
costs. Awards are based on financial
need. Required information must be
submitted to the Office of University Student Financial Affairs by the
specified deadlines. Failure to meet specified deadlines will result in loss of
consideration for institutional funds.
Students who wish to appeal financial aid decisions or policies may
present their appeal in writing to one of the Deans of Student Affairs who will
present the issue for review by the Financial Aid Advisory Committee that is
convened on a periodic basis.
Students are encouraged to make an appointment to see one of the financial aid officers if they need assistance in managing a budget or personal cash flow. In addition, educational seminars are offered periodically to students and house staff on debt management and financial planning issues. For further information regarding sources of aid, application procedures or other programs, students should contact the Office of University Student Financial Affairs for the College of Medicine.
Some monies may be awarded each year on a competitive basis to academically outstanding incoming first-year medical students, who possess an undergraduate degree and show qualities of leadership, humanity and community service. Additional scholarship monies may be awarded each year to students based on need or on academic performance during the preceding medical school year.
Summer Employment and Research Opportunities
The Office of Student Affairs maintains a file of possible summer jobs, summer fellowships and internships that are sent to the school. To find out what jobs are available, consult that file, the Office of Student Affairs, the Human Resources Department, the chairs of academic departments, the library and the hospital service and administrative departments.
