Medical Interpretation at the Chinatown Clinic

        DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM:

 

The Chinatown Clinic of Drexel University College of Medicine provides free health evaluations, referrals, and management of certain chronic conditions for newcomers without health insurance.  It is open every Wednesday evening in Philadelphia's Chinatown. Bi-lingual students who are fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, or Indonesian, are welcome to serve as interpreters.  Interpreters must be proficient in an Asian language and demonstrate proficiency in medical terminology.  This rotation requires a committment to volunteer in all aspects of the clinic and not only as an interpreter.  Please discuss your interest with the medical director Dr. Vincent Zarro 215-762-4920

Medical Interpretation at St. Christopher's Hospital

This program provides medical interpreters to staff and patients at St. Christopher Hospital for children.  Interpreters must be proficient in Spanish.

TIME COMMITMENT:

Four sessions to be scheduled.  Students will also be expected to complete a journal entry for each visit.
