Mindfulness and Stress Reduction Project
Chronic stress contributes to a full range of medical problems including heart disease, diabetes, chronic pain, anxiety and depression.
Particularly vulnerable are people with limited access to the social determinants of health such as stable income, food security, safe housing, and access to medical care.
Mindfulness meditation practices have been shown to reduce medical symptoms and increase resilience. These practices relax the body, calm the mind, and incline the heart towards greater kindness and compassion.
This project creates opportunities for the mutual exploration of mindfulness and stress reduction practices by community members and medical students.
