Healthcare Outreach Program (HOP)
Welcome to the Health Outreach Project website! The Health Outreach Project provides care to underserved Philadelphians through four free health clinics, run by Drexel medical students.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Drexel University College of Medicine Health Outreach Project (HOP) is to work in partnership with the community to provide caring, nonjudgmental, and interdisciplinary health services to individuals who have limited or no access to care.
The HOP clinics strive to create a respectful environment in which patients, students, community members, and health professionals work and learn together to address community health issues in innovative ways.
The Eliza Shirley Homeless Shelter serves women and children; Chinatown Clinic serves people without insurance; Salvation Army Rehabilitation Center serves adults in recovery from substance abuse; and Streetside offers health services as part of Prevention Point Philadelphia to individuals living on the streets.
These clinics provide opportunities to address obstacles to health care, including language and cultural barriers, hours of operation, lack of insurance, homelessness, and drug and alcohol addiction.
